Start in the browser
Repeat the action and inspect the payload the site produces. If the event is not there at the source, looking for it downstream will not solve the problem.
Check the handover
Make sure the configuration selects the right event and uses the intended parameters. Note the environment, the identifiers and the consent conditions of the test, without saving credentials.
Change one variable
Fix a single element and repeat the same case. A checklist with expected and observed results makes debugging reproducible for whoever works on it after you.

From the concept to a concrete case
Pick a page of the laboratory. Which interaction do you want to observe? Write the event name, two parameters and one case where it should not fire.
