Consent: keep the interface apart from the state

Pressing a button in the banner and updating the consent state are two distinct steps to observe.

Model the states

A teaching banner should make categories and choices visible. Define an initial state, the transitions and the way a choice can be changed later.

Do not confuse the events

The UI event says that a person pressed Accept. Updating the state is a different responsibility. Verify both steps without assuming that the first guarantees the second.

Start from scratch

A reset is useful for repeating exercises. A test environment must make clear that the banner is illustrative and does not certify the behaviour of third-party scripts or the compliance of a real site.

THINK IT THROUGH

From the concept to a concrete case

Pick a page of the laboratory. Which interaction do you want to observe? Write the event name, two parameters and one case where it should not fire.
