Write the definition
A completed order can mean different things in different systems. Agree on the states included, the time window and how cancellations or refunds are treated.
Trace the path
Connect the definition to source fields and transformations. Whoever reads the report must be able to see which assumptions were made and where to find the checks.
Make change visible
Version your changes and describe the expected effect. If a rule changes, explain from when it applies and which historical comparisons may no longer be consistent.
THINK IT THROUGH
From the concept to a concrete case
Pick a page of the laboratory. Which interaction do you want to observe? Write the event name, two parameters and one case where it should not fire.
